Activity Page: Science X-Periments
Beavis and Butt-head are in science class, when Butt-head decides to show Beavis some experiments in human balance and physical stamina... specifically, experiments that will really hurt Beavis, like getting him to lie face down, holding him up by the arms for twenty seconds, and then slowly lowering him so it feels like he's going through the floor. ("It rules! It rules!")
Coach Buzzcut asks what they're doing and is told "proving Beavis is a wuss, sir". The coach decides to prove they're both wusses and even a girl can beat them, calling Daria Morgendorffer up. She takes three steps back from the wall while he puts a chair in front of her, leans over it to place her head on the wall, then is ordered to (without moving her head) lift the chair up to her chest:
- Daria: Sure! Like this?
- Butt-head: Huh huh. What chest?
The lads declare they can do that... but can't, to Buzzcut's mocking laughter as he reveals almost no man can because women have a different centre of gravity. Butt-head also states it's impossible to do sit-ups after spinning around blindfolded, which their teacher denies and proves is possible - thus falling into Butt-head's trap, doing unwitting sit-ups into range of the lad's fart...
Daria sounds enthusiastic - "sure!" - and is smart enough to know about the centre of gravity, making her a willing accomplice in humiliating Beavis and Butt-head.
Daria appears as a guest of Stewart Stevenson's party in the main strip for #17. She looks distinctly unthrilled to be there - and in issue 10 had expressed dislike to Stewart - so it's likely she's been forced into it.
Fan mail - from a girl, no less - suggests Daria needs to be less frigid and go out with one of the lads. This is not the first time someone has suggested that. Letter host Mistress Cora suggests Daria takes up leather and lace, which will have a horrifying legacy in a later issue.
