From the Last Step to the First is the 52nd and concluding story in the John Lane series by Richard Lobinske Timewise, this is during spring of Daria's senior year of high school and the summer before starting college.
The series concludes with Daria and John graduating from Lawndale High and making it through their last summer in Lawndale as docents at the Lawndale Art Museum before leaving for college in Boston.
