Gimme Skelter
Gimme Skelter is a science-fiction alternate-universe fanfic by TAG and Brother Grimace. In August 1969, college freshmen Jake Morgendorffer and Helen Barksdale join the California commune headed by would-be messiah Charles Manson. This introduces horrific changes to world history when Manson's dream of igniting an apocalyptic race war comes to pass.
The story combines real-person fiction with an assortment of crossover characters. It was completed about the time of the 40th anniversary of the Tate-LaBianca mass murders.
It won Favorite Overall, Favorite Melodrama, Favorite Alternate History, Favorite Science-Fiction, and Favorite Supernatural or Fantasy Horror in the 2009 Daria Fanworks Awards. In addition, it was nominated for Favorite Drama, Favorite Use of a Background or Supporting Character from the Television Series, Favorite Supernatural or Fantasy Non-Horror, and Favorite Weird Idea in the same awards.
