Ringwraith One
Created by Richard Lobinske, Ringwraith One is the 'supervillain name' of Ian Llywd. He is one of only three Ringwraiths known to exist after the events of the Vengeance Ring Crisis.
Backstory
After graduating from college, Ian enlisted in the British Army and was deployed to Ireland during the highth of "The Troubles." Rescued from a bomb blast that would've killed him, he was recruited into The Agency and eventually became a team leader. During an operation against an Architect's Gate facility, he was forced to use one to escape and was trapped in the interface for forty-two years, he was released when a group of refugees fleeing Ringwraiths attempted to use a gate. Under the influence of the Architect's Gate Intellegence, his anger and desire for vengenance made him an excellent candidate to accept a Vengeance Ring.
He was a veteran of both the D-674 Nova Valdris campaign and the destruction of the D-674 Ringmasters. During the temporal reset enacted by The Agency, Ian was on a special mission to find and capture one of the rumored Deliverance Rings; because of this, he was traveling outside normal space/time and thus escaped having his existance altered.
After the reset, he settled on Earth D-793, after rescuing it from the effects of the nearby supervova of Van Maanen's Star. His rediscovery by the Corps of Ringbearers and The Agency were told in "Temporal Conundrum".
At some point before the events of 'Judith Strikes!, Ian encountered Anastasia Rowe, a female Ringwraith. They assisted Judith (as seen in 'The Gift of the Ringwraiths'), and were rewarded (in a left-handed fashion) by Judith giving them the alternate Earth seen in 'With New Responsibility' for their own dominion. This Earth, known by the forces gathered by Ian and Anastasia, was known as 'Zerth' (for 'Zombie Earth'); Ian and Anastasia began a relationship, and lived in that world's Buckingham Palace.
That all ended when Judith (as a result of the events in 'A Great Halloween Party') decided to decisively act against the Corps of Ringbearers. This also led her to also decide to destroy any Ringwraiths she came across (lest they turned against her); she destroyed the universe where Zerth resided, killing Anastasia and effectively leaving only four Vengeance Rings in existence. (Besides Ian, the location of Ringwraiths One and Two are unknown, and before being destroyed, the Ringmasters restored the endowments of the fallen Ringwraith Michael's Vengeance Ring while partially restoring the corrupted 'morality interlock'.) Ian fled the dying reality after Anastasia sacrificed herself so he could escape, and he has vowed revenge upon Judith for her actions.
Powers and Abilities
Ian possesses a Vengeance Ring; however, the moment that he re-entered normal space/time, the revisions placed upon the Defender Rings also were imposed upon his Ring, as well. (It is unknown why the three Vengeance Rings possessed by the remaining Ringwraiths were not simply removed from existance.
(The former Ringwraith known as Michael (a temporal counterpart to Archangel has retained his Ring (at the original levels, but with the newer endowments) and memories at the direct request of the Ringmasters, who have chosen to honor the wishes of their now-deceased temporal counterparts, but also have allowed him to act to redeem himself for the evil that he has done over his time as a Ringwraith. As of the fic 'Off The Chain', Michael's Ring once again possess all of the endowments of a Defender Ring, as well as those endowments of the Vengeance Ring (such as the ability to absorb life-energy as well as solar energies to power the ring); in addition, the morality interlock has been partially restored.)
His affinity is Air. As a chemistry major in college, he knows many different and creative ways to manipulate gasses in and out of combat to both amuse and terrorize.
