It's a Sick, Sad, Sad, Sad World
It's a Sick, Sad, Sad, Sad World is a Daria post-canon crossover/comedy fanfiction story by The Excellent S. The plot involves nearly all of the major Daria characters embarking on a race to Highland, where 50 million dollars has been placed at the high school by an eccentric billionaire. The story is largely based on that of the film Rat Race, while also deriving plot elements from It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World and The Cannonball Run.

Official Synopsis
It’s a mad dash across the country as all of your favourite Daria characters embark on a race to get to 50 million dollars located in the abandoned town of Highland, Texas. But as they say, getting there is half the fun... A loving mishmash of movies like The Cannonball Run, It’s A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World and Rat Race.
Plot
On the opening day at the new Venetian Resort and Casino, 10 "lucky" people win entry into a cross-country car race for 50 million dollars, organised by the owner of the casino, Donald Sinclair, by virtue of winning a special coin from the slot machines. Bringing their friends, family, co-workers and bandmates along for the ride, the race starts at the Mall of the Millennium and finishes at Highland High School (the town long abandoned due to the uranium discovery), where the money is located in a locker for which every team has a working key for. The teams are:
- Daria and Jane in Helen's SUV.
- Jake and Helen in Jake's Lexus.
- Mystik Spiral (Trent, Jesse, Nick and Max) in The Tank.
- The Fashion Club (Sandi, Quinn, Stacy and Tiffany) in Linda Griffin's convertible.
- Kevin, Brittany, Mack and Jodie in Kevin's Jeep.
- Upchuck and Andrea in Upchuck's Volvo.
- The Three Js (Joey, Jeffy and Jamie) in Jeffy's sports car.
- Mr. O'Neill and Ms. Barch in O'Neill's sedan.
- Mr. DeMartino, Mrs. Bennett, Ms. Defoe and Ms. Li in a Lawndale High school bus.
- Tom and Elsie in Tom's Jaguar.
During the race, the teams encounter various unexpected obstacles, with nearly all the teams losing their original vehicles and getting injured along the way. Despite their car being the most unreliable, Mystik Spiral (with The Fashion Club in tow due to their series of unfortunate events) would be first to Highland, only for Trent to fall asleep as he is about to open the locker. Sinclair's assistant, Mr. Grisham, uses the opportunity to take the money for himself and flees, only to be caught in the act by the other teams. After a brief chase, the teams get the money, but end up donating it to a charity headed by former Highland High teacher David Van Driessen. Sinclair, having flown to Texas, finds the teams but is threatened with jail and legal action for Grisham's attempted sabotage. Realising that his fortune is gone either way, Sinclair settles with them, giving each racer 50 million dollars. A brief epilogue detailing the character's futures is also added.
