Lillian Kressley
Lillian 'Lily' Kressley is the primary character in the 'Daylight'-inspired fic "Wagon Train To The Stars".
NOTE: Lily (she prefers that to her formal name) also exists in the mainstream Legion of Lawndale Heroes universe; both characters have the same abilities and background (save the obvious divergences caused by the Daylight Crisis.)
Background
A member of Training Cadre 3011 at the United States Academy of Extranormal Studies, Lily is a twenty-year old Cadet First Class who received her degree in Meteorology and her commission as a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force before being assigned as part of a metahuman force to supplement the forces as Legion Tower under Kyle Armalin. She has also had advanced training in the DELPHI program known as Project Starseed, and was looking forward to the possibility of colonizing another world. Like most USAES cadets, Lily became proficient in hand-to-hand combat (having learned the Filipino fighting form known as Escrima; she is also a moderately talented guitar player, and prefers acoustic guitar.
At 5'9 and 120 pounds, Lily is an attractive, slender young woman with pale blue eyes, and butter-blonde hair that she keeps cut shorter than the long length she prefers (as per USAES regulations). She considers her long legs her best feature, and enjoys long, cross-country walks to stay in shape (like many of the female cadets, Lily prefers to wear the uniform skirt rather than slacks as a way of accentuating their femininity). Lily is a gregarious individual with natural leadership ability, and also has a penchant for being able to converse with almost anyone. She is also a member of the elite USAES cadre known as the Phantom Eagles, she is a squad leader, and commands the aerial squad (when the cadre is broken down into action units).
She has a definite interest in Trent Lane, having met him while he and the members of the Legion of Lawndale Heroes were visiting USAES, but was unable to get to know him better due to Sherrie Klein monopolizing Trent's time. Since arriving at Legion Tower, she has made an effort to get him to notice her.
Lily spent her internship year working at The Weather Channel; she spent a great deal of time on air as a weather correspondent reporting from varions parts of the country. (Unknown to any of her fellow workers, she also used her powers to downgrade or disssipate dangerous storms whenever possible.) She also mentions, in passing, how she spent a great deal of time fending off unwelcome sexual advances from a senior member of the on-air staff.
Powers
Lily possesses the metahuman power of weather control, which allows her to sense weather patterns and activity from great distances away, and a lesser ability to control the weather in a large area around her. She can also project or control various weather effects from her or in her immediate vicinity (for example, she can project lightning bolts, or create a powerful storm or warm rain directly over her in order to act as a shower). She possesses the ability known as environmental awareness, which allows her to have an instinctive knowledge of the environment (what is happening and where) in a great radius around her; a side-effect of this allows her to sustain herself for indefinate periods without food and water by absorbing bio-energy from the Earth itself.
A secondary power attuned to her environmental awareness is Lillian's ability to gain superhuman strength while in contact with the Earth. She retains her enhanced strength for up to sixty seconds after her body leaves the ground (or is not within one foot of the ground). Also, her power makes her sensitive to unusual variations to natural events such as earthquakes, tornadoes, hurricanes, volcanic eruptions, etc., with the discombort she experiences in direct proportion to the level of severity of the event and her proximity to the event in question; this makes her a natural weather forecaster.
Lily also possesses an unusually strong resistance to mystical energies and forces, rendering her less vulnerable to mystical effects.
