Super Zero
Super Zero is a fanfic by Erin Mills. The story is told from the perspective of Jake Morgendorffer as he leaves the Morgendorffer house in the middle of the night to the unnamed city that Lawndale is a suburb of.
As Jake narrates the story, he reveals that he is not a clueless moron, but a capable, intelligent man who hides behind a facade of incompetence to hide the fact that he is endowed with superhuman strength. There is a genetic quirk in the Morgendorffer bloodline that occasionally grants members of the family superhuman abilities. Jake reveals that his father was a minor pyrokinetic and not the overbearing military crazed madman he has previously described.
The quirk apparently has skipped generations and seems to be confined exclusively to male members of the line, but there is no concrete evidence to confirm that theory. It also has caused those with it to suffer serious heart problems. After his father dies, Jake receives a letter where it is revealed that all the members of the Morgendorffer family who have manifested powers all died before reaching age 55. At the end of the story, Jake expresses worry that Daria or Quinn may have inherited the quirk.
