Warning: The following may contain plot or ending details.

Part I: Remembrance

After Tommy Sherman escapes death by goalpost with only a minor knee injury, Daria Morgendorffer and Jane Lane discuss the happenings. Daria leaves to meet Jodie Landon to help with her speech, but when Jane meets Jodie at the lunch table, Jodie hadn't talked with Daria since earlier in the day. After waiting for Daria to return for lunch, they go out to the football field to search for her. Jane finally finds a bruised and broken Daria behind the bleachers, along with a telltale clue regarding her assailant.

Part II: Wishes

Jane recalls Daria's memorial ceremony at Lawndale High. She notes the gradual breakup of Jodie and Mack, Upchuck's touching memorial poem, Quinn's emotional collapse upon hearing the news, the Fashion Club's memorial plaque, and finally her own attempts at lashing out at the audience, only to fall silent. Months later, she finds herself painting replicas to make money for college, and painting Daria in all of her scant original works. Quinn visits regularly to help cope, though Jane herself stays away from the Morgendorffers' house after Helen rashly blames Jane for not staying with Daria when she was attacked.
